Elements of Zen

A body of work made as part of the

Lighthouse, Poole exhibition:
What We Did Last Summer

"

This particular body of work is a exploration into the Zen notion of enlightenment and seeing things for their true and obvious self, rather than using memory and experience to understand what we are presented with. Through mirroring the image we are offered the idea of completion (enlightenment) however the simplicity of the image is conflicted with the possibility of seeing another image within; a sort of sub-consious ‘Rorshchach’ effect takes place.
The imagery as is consistent in the artists' practice, is a comment on human perception and the need to find meaning in what we see.
